After our trek to hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the unbelievable meal at the Red Iguana it was time to do a little more sightseeing. And what would a visit to Salt Lake City be without going to see The Great Salt Lake?! MM, having been here before many years ago, he decided that seeing The Lake from Antelope Island would be just the ticket. Now, I have to tell you his memory of The Lake. It was the middle of summer. Hot, dry and – being just a kid – there was a gigantor anticipation to see this huge, amazing lake in which you can just float without any effort. The family traveled across the road which takes you directly to the island. There are several areas of “salty” beaches on which you can not only dig your toes into the salt, but go into the water and splash and have a high ol’ time! Perfect for a ten year old boy. They all load out of the car and head to the beach and ugh! The entire beach is not only smelly, but filled with black flies – they are EVERYWHERE! His mom, Grammy, marched them all right back into the car and vowed never to return. Until now, that is the memory MM had of The Lake. But no longer. The heat has dissipated and the Brine Flies were no where to be found. Wooooohoooooo! The smell was minimal if non-existent and the beauty was maximal! And he was right! Here’s a few pics from our trip to The Great Salt Lake. Watch for a giveaway coming up soon – and it has something to do with this photo! And might have something to do with this one, too! Antelope Island is home to between 700-900 bison! This was quite a surprise!!! Last, but not least, one of the “residents” of the RV park . . . All in all it was a GREAT day! Couldn’t help but want to bring you along to enjoy the ride.
