It’s not hot

by Suzanne on March 22, 2010

Four times this winter it has snowed in the DFW Metroplex. FOUR times! I love cold weather! I live in DFW-freakin’-hot-Texas and no one but me loves winter. I am just not a summertime person. I like to bundle up and put on a coat, wear a sweater, put on a pair of soft, cozy sweat pants and my sheepskin house shoes. And, I LOVE SNOW! Christmas Eve was a doozy! Maybe I wouldn’t love it so much if I were low on potassium or if I had eggs to gather or cattle to feed or if I weighed 100lbs ringin’ wet. But, I don’t and I’m not. And then there was yesterday. Wow! First day of spring and we have another snow that isn’t supposed to accumulate – but it did. The weatherman didn’t exactly get that one right. But, I’m giving the guy a break right now because he hasn’t missed much in the last four months. I think he must have some new equipment because THAT is just amazing! After the First Day of Spring I thought it was only fair to let you see what was under the gloomy dawn skies after it started warming up and melting the snow. First Blooms of Spring Here’s something that I haven’t quite figured out. How we have so much firewood leftover after all the cold, true winter weather we’ve had this year. I’m quite sure we didn’t fire up the fireplace as much as we shoulda/coulda. Seemed like most of the time the logs were wet from either snow or rain – we’ve had a lot of that this winter, too. Maybe we’ll get lucky and use it all up next winter. This may be the last snow we see this “spring”. Could even be the last snow we see all year. I’m gonna be sad. I can just feel it coming on. I’m not looking forward to the ceiling fan being on high and Sweatin’ With the Oldies – and we’re not talking Richard Simmons here. NO sports injuries for me! But to everything there is a season and I’m going to persevere. I’ll get through it. But please, please, please. Don’t tell me that it’s “really not hot in here” when you see sweat on my brow. You know who you are. . .
